I'm a gamer. I game.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 - 12:00 AM

Well, it all started when my boys got a Wii from the grandparents for Christmas. If you've been following my Twitter feed, you already know I'm a Wii-Bowling Jedi. And, thanks to the patient tutelage of my six-year-old, I've become downright passable at Godzilla Unleashed.

So, when the lad spotted a used copy of Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I could hardly refuse.

Two days later, my son and I have averted nuclear disasters, freed S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and defeated a list of bad guys that includes Scorpion, Bullseye, Winder Soldier, Radioactive Man and Fin Fang Foom(!)

So, yeah. I'm a gamer. I game.

And now, I'm actually kinda eager to get my hands on this.

It's a slippery slope. With a fire-breathing, oddly-named dragon on the other end of it.

Ah and the Wii strikes again. Introducing gaming to the non-gamer and converting them.

Ultimate Alliance is a really good and fun game. It is one of the few ones that my wife will play with me. She loves Wolverine because of how easy he is to use. Basically you press buttons and things die...which is as it should be with Wolverine.

I gotta say I had been looking foreword to Ultimate Alliance 2 because I had a few small problems with Ultimate Alliance…nothing major just issues with boss fights and the camera. But I do not know how I feel about them working Civil War into it, it sounds though that you can sort of decide how that story ends this time. Which if that is true, then I am all for it!

I don’t know if they had come out for the Wii (or Gamecube) but X-Men Legends and X-men Legends 2, both done by the same company, were excellent. I liked the second one better than the first because they basically took everything that was good about the first one, fixed some minor problems and added a new storyline. It was great

Yay! Welcome to the club, Brad!

Unfortunately, X-men Legends came out for the gamecube, PS2 and original Xbox, but never came out for the Wii.

Having said that, you could buy a used PS2 or Gamecube and BOTH X-Men Legends games for less than Ultimate Alliance 2.

They're all awesome games, especially when you're playing with three other people in the same room (I'm old-school, I prefer split-screen to online)

Anyway, welcome to the gaming community!

Oh, and Silvanus...don't mention the Marvel Civil War...I still haven't forgiven Iron Man...and I DEFINITELY haven't forgiven the Spider-Man writers for the whole 'Brand New Day' abomination.

Oh you bahstahd! (And I mean that in the nicest way.) I've been looking for that game ever since a friend of mine convinced me it was actually good. I liked X-men Legends, but hadn't tried X-L: 2 so i couldn't tell you about it. Now you're going to make me search once more for Ultimate Alliance again. Just when I was about halfway through Chrono Trigger on the DS....

Actually the Wii will play GameCube games (as long as you have a GameCube controller and a GameCube memory card), so I highly recommend X-Men Legends then and now that I have actually checked I see X-Men Legends II is also available for the Gamecube. So both of thoose get high recomendations for being fun for just about everybody!

Hey I think you and I are on or near the same page Paulius!
It took the Iron Man movie to get me to even think positive thoughts about Tony ever since Civil War (Which I will admit was pretty good until the last issue, then it became a travesty of writing) and I canceled my Spider-Man subscription and have not bought any Spider-Man since "One More Day". That is huge for me since I have been collecting Spider-Man for over 2 decades now.
